WEST HOLLYWOOD—On Saturday, August 31, and Saturday, September 21, the
West Hollywood Library will hold a public event for Wikipedia. The purpose for the event is to boost the city's presence on Wikipedia.
Editors with experience will be paired with editors with little-to-no-experience to correct grammar, fix typos and add text to create new articles for the site.

"There isn't a sign up, it's a drop-in program. I edit Wikipedia and I know a few others that edit Wikipedia, it's a solitaire activity and so what I wanted to do is bring it into the library, to the obvious place, since all the sources are here," said librarian Oleg Kagan.
The only thing that is encouraged is to bring digital photos of
West Hollywood to help upload to the site. Personal computers will be provided, but all participants are allowed to bring their own laptops.
"The library is also a community center. I looked at the Wikipedia articles related to
West Hollywood and saw they needed some help. I promote the program through the press, I promote the program in various ways online. I like to get a mix of new editors and experienced editors so they can talk and help each other, bring in a new perspective," said Kagan.
The event is a three-part event with part two occurring on Saturday, August 31, and part three on Saturday, September 21, in the West Hollywood Library at 625 N San Vincente Blvd. from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
