—A woman charged with embezzling more than $800,000 in money from a local post-production sound company has pleaded guilty to grand theft and tax charges.

According to reports, Donna Glenn Walker, 57, of Oxnard faces prison time and restitution payments after pleading guilty during her preliminary hearing at Los Angeles Superior Court.

Walker was charged after an investigation by prosecutors in Los Angeles County resulted in the filing of a five-count felony complaint on January 19.  Prosecutors alleged that Walker embezzled at least $812,000 from Danetracks, Inc. while working as a vice president for the company.  The theft was originally reported in 2008 by the owner of the business.

After investigating the case and serving a warrant at Walker’s residence, detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Commercial Crimes Bureau learned she had fled the state.  Walker was eventually tracked down in Winter Haven, Florida, where she was arrested and booked on February 25.

In addition to the theft, Walker was also charged for not reporting income and failure to pay state taxes on the stolen funds after the California Franchise Tax Board conducted an investigation.

Walker will be sentenced on September 14.  Until then, she is being held on $812,000 bail at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood.
