WESTWOOD—Two violent crimes occurred on UCLA’s campus early Monday morning: an armed robbery and an attempted sexual assault. Police are urging students to walk safely and take caution.

About an hour later, at around 1:30 a.m., a female student was heading East between Structure No. 9 and Engineer No. 4 where a man, described as around 30 years old and white/light skinned Asian, bear hugged her and told her he was going to sexually assault her. The woman was able to break away from the attempted assault, and was not injured. The suspect is around 5’11” tall, about 160 pounds, and has black hair. He was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
UCLA police strongly encourage students to take advantage of the school’s escort service, which can be reached at 310-794-WALK, or to at least walk with a friend whenever possible. Anyone with information regarding the crimes are asked to call 310-825-1491.
