Appeal Coming For Alcohol License
Posted by Damian Kelly on Jul 5, 2012 - 3:38:15 PM

WESTWOOD—A Target store that is scheduled to open in Westwood Village later this July is scheduled to have its appeal heard to sell alcohol on Wednesday, July 18, according to reports.

On April 24, the company’s alcohol license application for a smaller version of its big-box stores called CityTarget was denied by a zoning administrator due to its concerns about the availability of alcohol at adjacent stores and limited space in the store for other products.

CityTarget, which will be located at 10861 Weyburn, is a 98,000 square-foot store that will be in the same shopping center as Ralphs and the former space of Best Buy.  It will be the company’s first CityTarget location which will cater to the needs of urban-dwelling clientele.  Another location in Los Angeles at the intersection of Figueroa and 7th Street is scheduled to open in October.

Currently, the closest Target locations are at La Cienega and Jefferson, Culver City, Fox Hills Mall in Culver City and West Hollywood.

John Griffith, Target’s executive vice president of Property Development, commented at the time in a statement on CityTarget when the announcement for the new location was made in November 2011.

"Target is thrilled to bring our newest store format, CityTarget, to this thriving Los Angeles neighborhood," said Griffith.  “We look forward to providing our guests on the Westside with high quality merchandise at a great value and the exceptional one-stop shopping experience they have come to expect from Target.”
