Arrested UCLA Student Released On Bail

WESTWOOD—A UCLA fraternity member was arrested on Friday, March 8 after a party at the Theta Chi House.

Paul Meyer, 20, was arrested in the early morning hours on charges of assault with intent to commit rape and false imprisonment. Original reports from the university indicated Meyer was being held on suspicion of attempted murder.
Police arrived at the fraternity house in the 600 block of Galey Avenue at approximately 2:30 a.m. due to reports of "aggravated assault." Police detained Meyer at the party for allegedly trying to choke a female student. Meyer and the victim were reportedly acquainted prior to the assault.
The female student, 18, was taken to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center where she was treated and later released. Meyer was also taken to the hospital for an undisclosed illness.
Meyer was released on bail for $100,000 on Saturday, March 9. His arraignment is schedule for Tuesday, March 12.
