Individuals gathered on Wilshire Boulevard in Westwood on Saturday, April 13 to rally for stronger gun control laws while those who oppose gun control were situated on the opposite side of the street having a rally of their own.
Many protestors who attended and were for gun control were there because of personal experiences as many of them knew individuals who had died as a result of gun use. In light of the most recent Newtown shootings, many of the protestors want stronger gun control laws to protect their children when they are at school or away from home.
On Wednesday, April 17, the senate rejected gun control laws such as universal background checks, leaving many advocates of gun control stunned. However, those in favor of gun control have made it clear that they will continue to push for stronger gun control policies until they are approved.
