WESTWOOD—The UCLA Police Department is currently investigating a hate crime that occurred last Friday, January 18 on campus.
At around 1:30 a.m. Friday night, two suspects driving a dark colored, 4-door sedan approached a UCLA student on the 400 block of Gayley. The suspects pulled up in front of the student and exited the vehicle while one of them threatened him with a knife, saying anti-gay remarks. The two fled the scene heading southbound on Gayley. The victim suffered from minor scratches and bruises, and did not request any medical treatment.
One suspect is described as a white male, between 26 and 27-years-old, 5’9” tall, weighing 160-170 lbs., with brown eyes, a shaved beard, and wearing a gray hoodie with blue jeans. The second suspect is a Hispanic male, between 26 and 27-years-old, 6’4” tall, weighing 300 lbs., with long black hair slicked back, and wearing baggy clothing.
