Postal Workers Collecting Food For Charity

WESTWOOD—Postal workers from Westwood and Century City will be collecting food for charity during their deliveries early next month. The collection will take place on Saturday, May 11, during normal mail deliveries. The postal service is asking residents in Westwood and Century City to leave non-perishable foods in a secure bag by their mailboxes to be picked up by postal workers.

This is part of a nationwide U.S. Postal Service project to collect food for local food banks. With the dwindling economy, more and more families are struggling to put meals on the table and U.S. letter carriers will be donating all of the foods they collect on this date to local food banks in the area.

The “Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive” is an organization that has been dedicated to feeding those in need for nearly 20 years. By asking residents to leave non-perishable foods to be picked up by local letter carriers, they have donated food to local food banks and have succeeded in feeding families and individuals in need.
