Members of the Westwood Homeowners Association complained that the loading and unloading of goods in the alley behind the new Sprouts will cause unwanted noise and disturbances to those who live nearby.
Sprouts worked for months with residents of the adjacent neighborhoods, to calm their worries and work out any problems they had with the new market opening.
After the initial conflict was resolved, Sprouts announced that it will open its new store on the corner of Westwood Boulevard and Massachusetts Avenue. The store is looking to hire 85 new employees.
Sprouts touts itself as a “neighborhood grocery store with the feel of an old-fashioned farmer’s market,” according to its website. Produce is stacked on old wooden crates and customers enjoy a soundtrack from the 50s and 60s while shopping.
They sell fresh fruits and vegetables, have a full-service deli and meat and seafood counter, stock eclectic beer and wine, and contain a variety of natural, organic and gluten-free options.
