WESTWOOD—During the early morning of Wednesday, November 9, West Los Angeles police arrested two men suspected of having recently stolen three high-end bicycles from homes near Westwood and in Woodland Hills.
On that date, at 4:15 a.m., police arrested 36-year-old Marvin Herrera and 23-year-old Julian Herrera for allegedly stealing two top of the line bicycles from an unlocked garage of a home on the 100 block of South Bentley Ave. near Westwood, West L.A. police allege. They were booked on felony burglary charges later that afternoon at 12:54 p.m. and are being held at the Van Nuys Jail on $500,000 bail, booking details indicate.
LAPD Captain Evangelyn said in an community alert that the two suspects were caught in the act and have been linked to numerous other garage burglaries in West L.A.
"Detectives are currently conducting additional investigative work to determine prior victims, locate other property taken, find any additional suspects, etc, who were involved," Evangelyn said.
While the two suspects were being taken into custody, police found two high-end bicycles in their cars. Two other bicycles were found by detectives at the suspects' homes during the course of a follow-up investigation. One of the bicycles was returned to the owner after it was stolen in Woodland Hills on the weekend. Police are still trying to find the owner of a orange and black-colored bicycle they found.
