UCLA Dissapointed With NCAA Tournament
Posted by Luis Cuevas on Mar 19, 2013 - 11:44:49 AM

WESTWOOD—On Sunday, March 17, the tourney brackets were announced and UCLA was not happy with their seeding. Ben Howland UCLA coach had a lot of questions after watching the NCAA tournament selection show Sunday.

The UCLA Bruins made the tournament with a No.6 seed in the south regional and will play the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Friday in a second-round game in Austin, Texas. Howland wondered how his team didn’t get a more friendly venue when California, Oregon and Arizona, which UCLA had a better season than, get to play closer to home.

California is seeded No. 12 and will get to play in San Jose, California. Oregon is also seeded No. 12 in the Midwest and will also play in San Jose. Arizona is seeded No. 6 in the west and will play in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Howland felt not only UCLA, but that the whole conference got slighted since UCLA (No. 6) and Arizona (No. 6) had the highest seedings of the conference. UCLA took a significant hit when second leading scorer Jordan Adams broke his foot Friday night in the conference tournament semifinal.

Adams going down kept UCLA from winning the Pac-12 tournament. This will be the first time in the tournament for the majority of UCLA’s players. The only exception Larry Drew II, a transfer from North Carolina as he has participated in the tournament before. UCLA kicks off the start of their tournament on Friday, March 22 against Minnesota.
