WOODLAND HILLS — This week Coloredfilms, an
independent film production company in Hollywood, started shooting parts of its
third movie, “Eagle,” in a studio in Woodland Hills.
“Eagle” (“Shqipe” in Albanian) is a political
thriller/suspense starting with the riots that ended communism in Albania in
April 1991. The protagonist, Helena, is a single mother and a high school
teacher of literature. The film opens with Helena witnessing the rioting and the
killing of one of her students as the regime collapses. Soon after, she escapes
to the United States, entering illegally with her seven-year-old daughter,
Lola. She is subsequently recruited by the CIA as a spy in the Muslim/Albanian
community in order to find and arrest a former communist ruler wanted by U.S. and
Albanian authorities.
The Albanian segment of the script was filmed in July in Albania. Recently, the company started an audio project at its
Woodland Hills studio for recording voices of the Albanian segment. The remainder
of the filming, the segment when the protagonist escapes to the United States,
is scheduled for Fall 2012.
Coloredfilms was created on September 20, 2008 in Los
Angeles and is the first Albanian film production company in Hollywood.
Co-founders Vilma and Greta Zenelaj share a strong passion for innovation and
creative arts. The two sisters are realizing their vision of writing
screenplays and making memorable films that captivate the viewer’s imagination.
The company has previously produced two other
independent films. The first film production, “What Do I Do Now?,” won Best
Comedy Feature at the 2009 New York International Independent Film and Video
Festival. The second film, “In The Woods,” sparked the attention of local and
international media.
It was accepted at the 2011 Female Eye Film Festival NYIIFVF, LAWomenFest, Sonoma International Festival and Detroit Windsor
Film Fest. “In The Woods” won the Silver Ace Award for the feature film
category at the 2011 Las Vegas Films Festival and Greta Zenelaj won Best
Actress in a Feature Film at the same festival.
The co-founders of Coloredfilms, Vilma and Greta are
confident that their latest production, “Eagle,” will be successful both with the
critics as well as financially.
