WOODLAND HILLS—On Wednesday, June 19, Councilman Dennis P. Zine presented a $50,000 check to the Woodland Hills Warner Center Neighborhood Council to be used to fix sidewalks, repair streets, and trim trees.

The allotment comes after Councilman Zine's winning bid to the City Council to redistribute the AB 120 funds he received from the closure of the Community Redevelopment Agency and other city council funds. The CRA ceased its operations due to Governor Jerry Brown's decision to transfer the agency's funds to schools and local government beginning in the 2011-2012 fiscal year.

“I transferred $50,000 to each of the five Neighborhood Council[s] in Council District Three (Reseda, Woodland Hills, Canoga Park, Tarzana, and Winnetka) to be used for street services projects that will improve the infrastructure in the Third Council District,” Zine told Canyon News. “Neighborhood Council members know where to best put dollars to work in their community whether it be towards additional tree trimming, street repair, and/or street maintenance,” he added. City officials will be able to prioritize based on their specific needs in their respective areas.

"My focus has always been on core services; and this is just a continuation of my 12 years of community investment and leaving the Third Council District in better shape than when I took office," the councilman said.

Councilman Zine finishes his last term for District Three on June 30.
