Homeless Woman Killed In Car Accident

WOODLAND HILLS—On Monday, October 22, a 66-year-old homeless woman was killed after she was struck by a vehicle as she attempted to walk on Canoga Avenue, north of Arcos Driver near the Woodland Hills Country Club.

The Los Angeles Police Department reported that Barbara Nawotka was walking in the northbound lane of Canoga Avenue when she was hit by a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan at approximately 5:45 a.m. Michael Trejo, 52-year-old driver of the Dodge from Los Angeles, stopped after the collision and attempted to render aid.
Nawotka was pronounced dead at the scene.After his arrest, Trejo was taken into custody and booked into Van Nuys jail for misdemeanor driving under the influence. He was released on $15,000 bail.
