WOODLAND HILLS—On Tuesday, September 20, LAPD Topanga Station police related that six separate suites housed in a building located near the Warner Plaza Shopping Center were recently burglarized at approximately the same time of day.
Specifically, the suites housed in a building on the 22000 block of Clarendon Street were burglarized on September 17 at about 6 p.m., a police advisory states. The suspects gained entry to these suites by prying open their front doors. They then ransacked each location and took about $10,400 worth of property.
Detective Theresa Gordon told Canyon News that the suspects took credit cards and computers.
"The police were notified after the fact when the employees arrived for work," Gordon said. "It does not appear as if there were any alarms."
Gordon said that commercial property on this street block was burglarized in a similar manner on August 11 and August 12, respectively.
Alarms, proper lighting and video surveillance can help prevent both home and commercial burglaries, Gordon said. But if a burglary does occur, video surveillance can help police catch the perpetrators.
Home and business owners should contact the senior officer assigned to their area so that they can become aware of events near where they live and work and in order to establish communication with neighbors and nearby businesses, Gordon said.
Anyone with information to relate regarding this ongoing investigation can contact LAPD Topanga Area detectives at 818-756-4820.
