Three Arrests At Marijuana Dispensaries

WOODLAND HILLS—Raids at medical marijuana dispensaries and a residence on Tuesday, June 19, resulted in the arrests of three residents and the seizing of narcotics and cash.

A news release from the Los Angeles Police Department indicated that detectives from the Topanga Area Narcotics Enforcement Detail arrived at two commercial marijuana dispensaries to serve arrest warrants around 4:20 p.m.  They were located in the 22,000 and 23,000 blocks of Ventura Boulevard while the residence was located in the 5700 block of Wilhelmina Avenue.  All three premises were owned by the same family.

Los Angeles residents’ 25-year-old Mia Shomer, 37-year-old Fahar Kinhi and 36-year-old Alexander Blinderman were arrested for possession for sales of Marijuana, culminating a nearly year-long investigation into the illegal sales of marijuana and hashish.  The three suspects were booked at the Valley Jail Section in Van Nuys and were being held on $20,000 bail.


Investigators from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office will also be seeking arrest warrants for two additional suspects who were not present when the search warrants were served.

Approximately $40,000 in cash was recovered by investigators from a hidden floor safe at the residence.  An estimated $2,000 in cash and 30 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $90,000 was recovered from the dispensaries.  In addition, 100 individual vials of hashish packaged for sale and over 225 marijuana plants were discovered by investigators at the dispensary in the 23,000 block of Ventura Boulevard.

Other items recovered from the dispensaries included four large commercial safes. Upon being opened by members from the Safe Detail of LAPD’s Commercial Crimes Division, large quantities of marijuana and cash were discovered inside.
