WOODLAND HILLS—Authorities have made one arrest in connection to the kidnapping of ten-year-old Nicole Ryan as police continue to search for another suspect. Ryan was kidnapped from her Northridge home during the early hours of Wednesday, March 27 and was dropped off in Woodland Hills nearly 12 hours later.

The young girl was found in a state of shock and was wearing different clothing than what she was last seen in. Police suspect Ryan was taken by two men and she reported being assaulted, then taken to several different locations before being dropped off in Woodland Hills near a Starbucks. The victim was later treated at a hospital for her injuries which included facial lacerations.

Daniel Martinez, 29, was arrested in Northridge on Sunday, March 31. Martinez is a resident of West Hills and has no connection to the street he was arrested on nor the victim or her family. He has a criminal history that includes burglary, petty theft, grand theft, resisting a police officer and unlawful entry onto a property.

Police are also searching for 30-year-old Tobias Dustin Summers, who is the second suspect believed to be involved in the kidnapping of the victim. Commander Andrew Smith of LAPD spoke with officials indicating “We believe he may have fled to the San Diego area” and that “[Summers] may have shaved his head to change or alter his appearance.” Summers has an extensive criminal history which includes kidnapping, robbery, explosives possession, auto theft and battery. He was released from prison in July 2012.

Like Martinez, Summers is not believed to have any connection to the victim or her family. His last known address is a home in Woodland Hills which officials have checked but have found empty.

Summers is reportedly 160 lbs. with blonde hair and blue eyes. One of his physical identifiers is a tattoo on his right arm of a flaming skull and a woman. Authorities are warning everyone that Tobias Dustin Summers should be considered dangerous and anyone who sees him should contact 911 immediately.
