WOODLAND HILLS—During the afternoon of Friday, October 28, Los Angeles firefighters freed a 17-year-old male who was trapped inside of a mangled vehicle after a two-vehicle collision at an intersection in the western end of Woodland Hills just miles outside of the West Hills area.
On that date, at about 5:30 p.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department medical director was at the scene to provide care for the injured young man, who was then taken to a local hospital by parademics in serious condition, a fire department news release states.
As a result of aforementioned collision, his turquoise-colored vehicle struck a light pole where the 6300 block Valley Circle Boulevard meets with Victory Boulevard near a Chevron gas station. No one else was injured, as the other vehicle sustained a minimal amount of damage.
Photos taken by the LAFD show that the young man's vehicle was turned over on its side after the collision and was all but cut in half.
Because of the damage the vehicle sustained to the driver's side door, the young man was trapped inside and firefighters had to utilize Jaws of Life hydraulic equipment to get him out. The door, which was ultimately removed, had been bent toward his direction.
The other vehicle had debris from the mangled vehicle on its hood and was stopped in the middle of the intersection, an LAFD photo shows.
