LOS ANGELES—During this Presidents’ Day weekend, from February 14 to 18, motorists can expect an 80-hour northbound I-405 Freeway closure in theSepulveda Pass. Los Angeles transportation officials are notifying the public to help prevent multi-hour delays during the long weekend up until Tuesday.

While Sepulveda Boulevard will remain open during the I-405 construction, it does not have the capacity to move diverted traffic from the northbound closures.

The shutdown has allowed workers to pave and restripe the lanes where a carpool lane is being added.

The ‘Jamzilla’ closure will include partial daytime lane reduction and full nighttime closure between Getty Center Drive and Ventura Boulevard – a span of about five and a half miles long.

During the day, two out of five lanes will remain open. In the evening, all five northbound lanes will be closed. The southbound lanes will all remain open during daytime hours of the closure.

Sections of the closure will reopen upon completion. Updates are available at Twitter and Facebook.

“When traveling in Southern California, we encourage you to drive safely and listen to local radio stations – especially AM news stations with frequent traffic reports,” said the Los Angeles Fire Department in a news release. “Public agencies work with broadcasters to help you make the best travel choices.”

The work is expected to be finished at about 6 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation.
