HOLLYWOOD HILLS—Democratic presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders is holding a fundraiser at the Avalon Hollywood nightclub located on Vine Street.

The fundraiser, which has a suggested $25 minimum contribution, will take place on Wednesday, October 14 from 4:00-5:00 p.m.

According to Sanders’ website, the senator will be speaking about “a wide range of issues, including income and wealth inequality and the disappearing middle class, campaign finance reform, his legislation targeting high prescription drug costs, criminal justice reform, and his college affordability plan.”

The event comes exactly one day after the Vermont senator participated in the first Democratic Presidential Debate of 2016.

If elected, Sanders would be the first Jewish United States president and the first self-proclaimed democratic socialist.

During last night’s debate, the 74-year-old presidential candidate explained, “Democratic socialism is saying that it is immoral and wrong that the top one-tenth of 1 percent in this country own almost as much wealth as the bottom 90 percent. That it is wrong, today, in a rigged economy that 57 percent of all new income is going to the top 1 percent.”

Sanders further discussed that as a democratic socialist he believes in greater pay equality that provides more distribution of wealth and basic rights like universal health care and paid leave for new mothers.

“I think we should look to countries like Denmark, like Sweden and Norway and learn from what they have accomplished for their working people,” said Sanders.

While in Los Angeles, Sanders appeared on HBO’s “Real Time With Bill Maher” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” which aired on Friday.
