SANTA MONICA—Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders held rallies in both Santa Monica and Lincoln Heights on Monday, May 23, according to KTLA. The rallies are part of his campaign through California before the primary elections on June 7.

Sanders started in Lincoln Heights at Lincoln Park located at 3501 Valley Boulevard. The doors opened at 9 a.m. with long lines having formed before then. Actress Rosario Dawson introduced him at this rally.

“Our campaign … is a grassroots campaign, not a fancy campaign,” said Sanders at the rally.

The second rally was held at 7 p.m. on the football field of Santa Monica High School located on Pico Boulevard. Thousands of supporters were on the football field before the rally began. Facebook and Twitter are filled with pictures and support from both of Sanders’ rallies.

Sanders is currently behind presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in terms of total delegates to secure the nomination from the Democratic Party. Delegates won’t be finalized until the convention in July.
