BEVERLY HILLS—On May 3, Beverly Hills Heritage posted to their Facebook page asking the local population for support in keeping the last Scout House that stands in the city.  The wooden cabin has been standing since 1934, when the Beverly Hills Rotary Club donated funds that allowed it to be built.  William J. Gage, whose name appears on the city’s list of Master Architects, was one of the designers of the building, which was host to Boy Scout Troop 33.

The property that the Scout House rests on has been leased for years by the Los Angeles Country Club, which now wants the property back and plans on taking the building down.  They have issued a vacate date of June 15, denying the Scouts’ proposal to purchase the property.

Beverly Hills Scout House Association is a charity working to fight against the demolition of the home. The Beverly Hills Heritage has instructed those that wish to help on the issue to write to the Cultural Heritage Commission in hopes of having the Scout House considered as a local and historical landmark.
