BEVERLY HILLS—The Beverly Hills Police Department has announced its support for Movember. In a press release Canyon News received from Lt. Elisabeth Albanese of the BHPD, men throughout the United States are encouraged to grow mustaches throughout the month of November to generate awareness and promote fundraising to bring awareness to men’s health issues. The month of November has been coined “Movember.”

Beverly Hills Police Officer David Leber has developed a fundraising campaign within the Police Department. For the month of November, the BHPD loosened its restrictions on facial hair for uniformed officers. Officers were allowed to grow longer mustaches or goatees with their donation to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

Employees of the BHPD participated in the campaign and have donated over $2,300 to the Foundation for the month of November. Officer Leber was inspired to raise funds for the organization and bring additional awareness to prostate cancer in honor of his father who is a recent prostate cancer survivor.

“I wanted to do something to bring more awareness to prostate cancer. The cause is near and dear to me because of my father,” said Officer David Leber.

The Department recognizes and remembers the survivors and those we have lost to prostate cancer.
