HOLLYWOOD—At long last, the cast members for “Big Brother 19” were unveiled on Monday, June 19. However, the question of the hour is rather the cast would consist of all newbies, all veterans or a mix of the two? Well, the answer is all newbies. While I’m conflicted on this issue, and I can do like 2-3 columns where I’m not all for newbies, it is what it is people. Never know, we could have another BB10 on our hands if the cast clicks.

However, this goes with my theory that of course CBS has reserved season 20 of the reality-competition for the highly-anticipated second coming of all-stars. I mean the last all-stars season was season 7, so not only is it long-overdue, but at that point they’d have to do it right to celebrate 20 seasons? On June 28, we will see the new 16 contestants enter the BB house and compete to be the last house member standing. Those who are BB fanatics like myself were well aware that the cast which was revealed on Monday, June 19, was actually leaked on Sunday, June 18. Good ole social media people.

Well, this season we have some older people entering the house for a change. This is long overdue people, because it seems year after year, the oldest contestant we have is just on the cusp of the age of 30. This time around we have 5 contestants in their 30s, and one contestant who is 55. I mean the older the more mature the contestants, the better the gameplay in my personal opinion; so happy to see this diversity come back into play.

We have a personal trainer, a microbiologist, a fitness superstar, a renovation consultant, an engineer, radio personality, a rodeo clown, concierge waitress, dog walker, hair sales specialist, construction sales rep, eco-marketing rep, timeshare sales rep, stay-at-home dad and a cosplay artist.

Enough talk, contestants who could become BB legends this season include: Ramses Soto, 21, from Grand Rapids, Michigan; Kevin Schlehuber, 55, from Boston, Massachusetts; Jillian Parker, 24, from Las Vegas, Nevada; Alex Ow, 28, from Thousand Oaks, California; Cody Nickson, 32, from Lake Mills, Iowa; Josh Martinez, 23, from Miami, Florida; Megan Lowder, 28, from Cathedral City, California; Mark Jansen, 26, from Grand Island, New York; Cameron Heard, 24, from North Aurora, Illinois; Jessica Graf, 26, from Cranston, Rhode Island; Jason Dent, 37, from Humeston, Iowa; Elena Davis, 26, from Dallas, Texas; Dominque Cooper, 30, from Tuskegee, Alabama; Matthew Clines, 33, from Arlington, Virginia; Christmas Abbott, 33, from Lynchburg, Virginia; Raven Walton, 23, from DeValls Bluff, Arkansas.

Ok, first impressions, I have a feeling we’ve seen some of these people before. Alex is reminding me a ton of DJ Paola from BB16, Jessica gives vibes of Natalie from BB18, but I’m hoping she has the skill set to deceive which Natalie did not. Jason looks quite similar to that guy Steven from BB10, and Cameron gives off a vibe similar to Ian Terry BB10. The one character that instantly stands out is Christmas Abbott! I mean with a name like that how can this woman not be a personality that people will not soon forget. It apparent Kevin will actually play the day role in the house as well, and Mark might be the eye candy that stirs up a showmance of two this season.

As for the other contestants, the verdict is still out; those in-person interviews with BB alum Jeff Schroeder never reveal much in my opinion. Someone you might hate in the beginning turns out to be a fan favorite, and someone you might love in the beginning you hate as time progresses. So we have our new faces, now the big question of the hour is the twists people.

What kind of twist or twists should fans expect for “Big Brother 19?” To be honest I have no idea, but I know producers have to be cooking up something good for us. Why? Well, CBS has that online contest of the most memorable houseguest of all-time, and it can’t be a coincidence in my opinion. We’re down to our final four, Jeff vs. Jordan and Dan vs. Janelle. Yeah, some of the match-ups were uneven, and Dr. Will should definitely be in the final round if you ask me. No matter the outcome, there is no way, Jeff or Jordan will beat Dan or Janelle. Jeff and Jordan are lovebirds in my opinion, whereas Dan and Janelle are legends to the game; they’re not just great competitors, but deliver phenomenal television, something Jeff and Jordan just don’t do for me.

Could we see a coaches twist, I hope not, it worked phenomenally in BB14, but with so many houseguests I don’t see how that happens unless there are more people in the mix than we know. Rumors have been rumbling about a second chances season, and return houseguests joining the foray. With the cast reveal that just doesn’t seem likely people. So we have our houseguests, the next step is to get this game going. “Big Brother 19” premieres on Wednesday, June 28 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
