STUDIO CITY—A burglar was caught ransacking cars in a Studio City apartment garage on surveillance video. The suspect stole the garage remote, then drove his car into the garage to steal from other vehicles.
The video captures the suspect in the act on March 27, during the evening hours in the 4000 block of Tujunga Avenue.
Resident Lydia Kapp told ABC7 news that she left her car unlocked by accident the night the incident occurred. Her roommate found the car ransacked the next morning. The burglar stole Kapp’s sunglasses, a garage door opener, and her husband’s scuba diving equipment.
The building manager at the apartment, Debi Saure believes the same suspect may have committed a similar crime at another building she manages located nearby. She has changed the remote code in an effort to prevent the culprit from returning to the garage.
