SHERMAN OAKS—A burglary suspect was taken into police custody on Friday, July 12 near Sepulveda Pass.
The suspect attempted to hit a police car during a high-speed pursuit that began in Sherman Oaks. The man is said to have stolen a Hertz rental vehicle and tried to hit a police car during the chase. A second suspect who was reported to be inside the vehicle leapt out the white truck near Sepulveda and Ventura Boulevards.
The high-speed chase ceased at 11:50 a.m. when the suspect struck a light pole near Mountain Gate Drive and Sepulveda Boulevard on the Sepulveda Pass. The suspect surrendered to police at the end of the chase. Officials cleared the vehicle before taking the suspect into custody.
The southbound lanes near Mountain Gate and Sepulveda Boulevard were all closed as police cleared the scene.
