BEVERLY HILLS—On Sunday,  January 26, at around 1:00 a.m., 18-year-old Nicholas Howell and 19-year-old Louis Taylor were taken into custody by the Beverly Hills Police as suspects in an attempted burglary. Canyon News spoke with Lieutenant Lincoln Hoshino of the BHPD for more details on the incident.

The vehicle, a large SUV, was first spotted by a security guard on January 25, at 10:30 a.m. The guard noticed that mysterious men were attempting to burglarize another vehicle on the 1100 block of Calle Vista Drive, but by the time more units arrived at the scene, the SUV was gone.

A little over 12 hours later, the same guard spotted the SUV in the area again and the inhabitants were apprehended once they were pulled over for an investigative stop at the crossroads of Lomitas Drive and Crescent Drive.

Upon investigation of their vehicle, authorities found various firearms, gloves and other evidence; the weapons belonged to the suspects, but the investigation is still ongoing for other evidence located within the vehicle.

Howell and Taylor have yet to be charged with anything. Lieutenant Hoshino told Canyon News that “Beverly Hills is experiencing numerous thefts from unlocked vehicles” and is reminding residents to “lock their vehicle doors and hide valuables from view.”
