HOLLYWOOD—It was a busy weekend at the box-office over the Thanksgiving holiday as the sequel to “The Hunger Games” and the Disney flick “Frozen” shattered box-office records.  Any guesses as to which picture came out on top? To no surprise, “Catching Fire” continued its dominance at the multiplex ranking in over $110 million during the five-day weekend, bringing its total just a few mere million from the $300 million mark domestically.

The kiddies were definitely at the multiplex as well, as Disney’s “Frozen” took the #2 spot with $90 million. The film earned close to $74 million from Friday-Sunday.  Landing in the third spot was the superhero flick “Thor: The Dark World” with a little over $14 million; at this point the picture has grossed more than $186 million domestically. The movie is certain to reach the $200 million mark by the end of the week.

This weekend sees the release of the following indie flicks “Out of the Surface” and “Inside Llewyn Davis” which are both generating some Oscar buzz.
