HOLLYWOOD—Reality television has exploded.  Every time TV lovers pick up the remote they’re likely to come across a reality show.  My newest guilty pleasure is NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice.”  The reality series is a dazzling spin on business mogul Donald Trump’s original series “The Apprentice.”  Many viewers may recall the show because it spawned perhaps one of the most notorious villains on television, Omarosa.  Since then, Trump has had other versions of “Celebrity Apprentice,” which included stars Bret Michaels, Sharon Osbourne, Joan Rivers and Piers Morgan to name a few, but Trump’s new cast may be his best yet.

Sunday’s episode had me glued to the television, with such crazy antics and unbelievable feuds in the first episode; I can only imagine what’s to come. Rounding out the cast includes Dionne Warwick, Gary Busey, Hope Dworaczyk, John Rich, Jose Canseco, LaToya Jackson, Lil Jon, Lisa Rinna, Mark McGrath, Marlee Matlin, Meat Loaf, NeNe Leakes, Niki Taylor, Richard Hatch, David Cassidy and Star Jones. This is some serious star power; we’re talking musicians, TV personalities, actresses and actors, a supermodel and a playmate to name a few.

As a viewer, you quickly identify with your favorites as well as those you despise.  As always, the cast is broken into two teams: the men’s team and the women’s team.  The guys decided their team name would be Backbone, while the ladies chose ASAP; I’m not sure what is the meaning behind either of those.  When you take a sleuth of celebrities with such big personalities expect backstabbing, drama and plenty of feuds that are sure not to disappoint.

Star Jones and Richard Hatch took on the roles as project manager and knew their tails were on the line because someone from the losing team would be fired. Last week’s challenge had the stars selling pizza to raise money for charity and cue the fireworks. Richard and David were already off to a heated start; Richard was treating David like a child, and viewers were left screaming when Richard shoved David. Working with others can be difficult, but that was blatant disrespect. Gary Busey is a delight to have on the show because he is a character; you never know what he’ll say or do.

Star was already getting on everyone’s nerves with her decision to focus on creating flyers for the event instead of helping with preparation. Her first encounter was with Lisa who just wouldn’t voice her opinion directly to Star and she later butted heads with Dionne Warwick who was taking orders from customers. Sorry, but Dionne was moving too slow; I would have interrupted her and took over. When the dust settled, the victorious team was ASAP who raised over $100,000 for charity.  My instinct told me the women had a good chance after that $40,000 donation for a pizza.

The board room is always interesting because Donald, Ivanka and Donald Trump Jr., all had opportunities to question the contestants on their project manager, team effort and problems that arose.  Seeing Star cut-off Lisa after she asked about the pizzeria closing two hours early sent my blood boiling; how disrespectful, but the apprehension on the men’s team was even worse.  Jose, David and Richard were battling with ferocity.  It was a delight to look over at the women and watch their reactions.

Drama reached a boiling point when Richard was forced to bring two of his teammates back into the board room to argue their case on why they should stay. You guessed it, he chose Jose and David. With the back and forth bickering it was obvious David would be the first to go and he was.  Trump isn’t the type to hold back words and I love that about him. The promos for this season put some powerful personalities against one another: Star Jones versus NeNe Leakes; Meat Loaf versus Gary Busey and I’m sure audiences will encounter more epic battles along the way.

Viewers looking for a series that provides a bit of insight into the business arena, look no further than “Celebrity Apprentice.”  This is a season audiences will not forget and we’re only on episode two.  “Celebrity Apprentice” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.  Who are you rooting for?
