UNITED STATES—Tell me, is there something that you’ve always dreamed about doing that has yet to transpire? Of course you have, we all do. The problem with a dream is sometimes it seems unattainable or takes days, weeks, months, years or decades before you see it come to fruition.

The key to maintaining your aspiration on any dream is to NOT forget what it is that you want to achieve. Is any dream going to be handed to you on a silver platter, not a chance. Those who work hard at something they want to accomplish, eventually see it come to light, but is it too little too late? I guess that would depend on who you ask. My dream in life is to be a filmmaker, but something I’ve learned about myself that I have to acknowledge, is that in recent years I haven’t dedicated my ability to my craft. I’ve become lazy, distracted and unfocused. I learned I have to work at it, in order to become better at it. If I don’t put in the work, there is no chance that the dream that I want to accomplish will see the light of day.

The worst part about my dream was realizing that I was allowing it to slip away. That is something time and time again so many of us are guilty of doing. We get distracted with work; we get distracted with family or even personal problems, all factors that halt dream chasers.

Does that mean you give up? No, it means you fight even harder. I’ve come to realize sometimes you have to cut yourself off from work, sometimes you have to cut yourself off from your personal life, sometimes you just have to take time for yourself. Even if it’s just an hour or so. That hour allows you to exhibit personal reflection.

Remember if you have a gift and you’re good at something, the more you do it the better you become at it. What about perfection? What about it; perfection is a word that is nearly impossible to live up to. There is no such thing as perfection in my eyes, is anything in life truly perfect? No.

Can a person have more than one dream? Without a doubt, but I do believe in my soul that your passion lies in one thing and not multiple things. A passion is almost impossible to put into words because what you feel is impossible to describe. How can you explain the effervescent joy that is exhibited when you do something that you love? You can’t, you just can’t.

We all have dreams that we want to accomplish. The key to any dream is to keep it at your forefront. Don’t forget what you’re fighting for, especially when times get tough and things seem impossible. If you fall get back up, if you get pushed down, get back up, if you doubt your gift, find a way to solidify your strengths.

Sometimes its okay to keep your dream to yourself, not everyone will be happy for you, especially if it becomes evident that you are edging ever closer to accomplishing something that others feel they should be capable of doing as well. Everyone has a dream or what I’d like to call a ‘passion.’ Some of us find it a lot sooner than others, but the key is to find it and never let it go.
