SHERMAN OAKS—An unidentified man pursued a 60-70 mph chase across several westbound freeways has been arrested and taken custody after California Highway Patrol Officers (CHP) trapped his car on 101 Freeway in Sherman Oaks Wednesday, June 12. The incident transpired at 12:50 p.m. and was first reported by KTLA5.

KTLA5 Aerial Sky5 video captured the pursuit initiated westbound on the 210 Santa Anita Freeway in Arcadia, through the 405 westbound in San Fernando Valley.

Authorities indicated the driver made connections to the 134 and 101 freeways in North Hollywood region where CHP officials attempted to pull him over in violation of carpool lanes.

At 1:15 p.m., reports indicated the chased was slowed down during peak traffic hours, but the elderly driver continued in his SUV until a CHP cruiser boxed him on 101 westbound freeway surrounding his vehicle in Sherman Oaks.

The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. Authorities indicated the driver appeared disoriented during the incident. He was taken into custody for violating carpool restrictions for solo driving. The case is under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department. No additional details about the driver has been released to the public.
