SANTA MONICA—The city of Santa Monica will be holding its third public meeting to address the City Yards Modernization project on Monday, October 24. Located at Virginia Avenue Park’s Thelma Terry Building, the public meeting will update the community on “planned improvements for the City Yards Modernization and the proposed reconfiguration of Gandara Park.”

City staff and the design building consultant team will provide Santa Monica residents in attendance with an overview on planned improvements to the aging City Yards Facility. Community input received from the prior two public meetings will be discussed alongside its integration into the final project. The proposed water treatment plan, integration of public landscape offices, and the reconfiguration of Gandara Park will be discussed as part of the City’s project master plan. Concluding the meeting will be an opportunity for residents to pose questions and receive answers.

According to the City of Santa Monica Public Works Architecture Services’ official website, The City Yards is “a 14.7-acre site owned and operated by the City of Santa Monica and located at 2500 Michigan Avenue, near the intersection of 24th Street and Michigan Avenue. The City took ownership of the site in the late 1940s. The property has been used as a base for the City’s maintenance operations, storage facilities, and other industrial uses.”
