RIVERSIDE—”The Center on Deafness Inland Empire’s” (CODIE) Annual Children’s Holiday Party will be celebrated on December 20 at the CaliforniaSchool for the Deaf, Riverside (CSDR).

Veronica Briones, who works as an Administrative Assistant to Lisa Price, the Director with CODIE informed Canyon News, “The Center on Deafness Inland Empire” is a non-profit agency that promotes social, recreational, cultural, education, and vocational welfare and ensures equal access for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community.” Briones indicated that the Annual Children’s Holiday Party began five years ago, and aims to make everyone feel welcome to the event, regardless of their religious background, which encouraged them to make this year’s theme “Grinchmas Winter Wonderland.”

The Grinchmas Wonderland will include a deaf Santa, Grinch, and the chance to meet the Who’s of Whoville. Other activities include sugar cookie decorating, Christmas and Hannukah arts and crafts, refreshments and gifts for the children who attend the event.

Briones acknowledged the event would not be possible without the local sponsors who donate money and/or toys to the event; and the volunteers who help out. The event is free to attend, but due to the small budget, CODIE has only been able to invite those within their community. Briones holds hope for future events saying, “We would like to have a bigger event next year and future years.”

The event will be located at CSDR Social Hall at 3044 Horace Street inRiverside, CA. For more information on the event, contact Elf Veronica via email: vbriones@codie.org, VP:  (951) 801-5674, Voice: (951)-275-5000 or by visiting their website: www.codie.org.
