BEVERLY HILLS — City Council will be holding an informal community meeting on Wednesday, February 12 to discuss the future of a 1.4-acre parcel of city-owned land on

Third Street between Foothill Road and the Maple Drive Post Office. The meeting will take place at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall Municipal Gallery, located at 455 N. Rexford Drive.

During the meeting, attendees will hear the proposal from Sonnenblick Development, a real-estate development firm, to lease and re-develop the land into an Auberge Resorts boutique hotel. The two companies are requesting a long-term ground lease of the property and if they are successful, they will begin construction of a 124-room hotel, 45 feet tall with rooftop amenities.

The purpose of the upcoming meeting is to gauge public opinion on the proposal. Since the project is still in its nascent phase, questions concerning issues such as traffic, economic benefit, aesthetics and environmental effects have not yet been addressed.

“Detailed plans have not been developed and there has not been any negotiation of potential lease terms,” according to a press release by City Council.

Representatives from both Auberge Resorts and Sonnenblick Development will be present to provide more information on their proposal and answer any questions, and will convene with City Council after the meeting to discuss the next steps.
