HOLLYWOOD—Well we’re coming to an end for the month of August at the multiplex, and last week’s box-office champion is at the top for moviegoers for a second consecutive weekend. What flick am I referring to? “Crazy Rich Asians” which earned another $25 million.

Since its release on August 15, the film has earned over $76 million. I might only argue right now that “Crazy Rich Asians” might top the box-office going into the Labor Day weekend, as the film selection will be slim pickings for audiences.

Nabbing second place was the sleeper hit of the summer “The Meg” with $10 million. The shark flick has since crossed the $100 million mark at the domestic box-office. The raunchy puppet comedy “The Happytime Murders” failed to inspire audience. Even with comic Melissa McCartney headlining, the flick only earned $10 million. “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” landed in fourth place adding another $8 million to its total. Rounding out the top five was the Disney flick “Christopher Robin” with $6.3 million.

Don’t expect any big time budget flicks to arrive this weekend, those flicks are reserved for release the Friday after Labor Day as both “The Nun” and “Peppermint” do battle against each other.
