LOS ANGELES—Actor David Henrie, known for his role on the Disney series “Wizards of Waverly Place,” was arrested on Monday, September 10 for carrying a loaded gun at Los Angeles International Airport. Henrie legally owns the gun that he was carrying at the time of his arrest.

TSA agents found the gun, reportedly a M&P Shield 9mm pistol, among his other items and took Henrie into custody. Authorities later booked him at the Los Angeles Police Department Pacific Division jail and he was released hours later on his own recognizance and a $10,000 bail.

The actor expressed regret for his mistake and thanked authorities for performing their duties on his Instagram and Twitter accounts.

“I take responsibility for the situation at LAX today. I unintentionally brought my legally owned gun which is registered in my name to the airport. I am so sorry for any trouble it caused, but I am appreciative of TSA’s efforts in implementing the safety laws that are in place to protect our beautiful country. More than anything I am humiliated and embarrassed that this even happened. But am thankful to the TSA, LAPD and all involved today for their kindness and their professionalism during this process,” Henrie said.

According to the TSA website, it is legal to travel with a gun if it is declared, unloaded, carried in a securely locked container, and shipped as checked baggage. Henrie and his representatives have yet to explain why he brought the gun to the airport.

Henrie starred as the brother of Selena Gomez in “Wizards of Waverly Place,” as well as the son of Josh Radnor on the CBS series “How I Met Your Mother,” and appeared on the Disney series “That’s So Raven.” The news comes days after his public announcement of his wife Maria Cahill’s pregnancy.
