SHERMAN OAKS—Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department arrived to a Ralphs grocery store in Sherman Oaks after a witness phoned in a call regarding a dead fetus in the restroom toilet. The call was made around 3:10 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29.

The market, located on the 14400 block of Burbank Boulevard, has become the scene of an ongoing death investigation. After the LAPD received the call,  fire personnel arrived to the establishment and pronounced the fetus, estimated to be about six months from conception dead.

Authorities located the mother of the fetus and interviewed her to learn about what transpired in the grocery store bathroom. According to CNS, the mother was reported to have been tracked down at a hospital.

Los Angeles Police Sgt. Hector Guzman said it is still unknown whether the fetus was considered live at birth. ABC7 Eyewitness News reported that authorities determined no crime was committed and no have arrests have been made.

A Ralphs customer representative told Canyon News that no further information could be disclosed considering the scene is still under investigation. They said that the investigation has no impact on the store’s hours nor the safety of the store’s customers, employees or the general public.
