SHERMAN OAKS—The driver of a pickup truck traveling northbound on Interstate 405 near Ventura Boulevard died when his vehicle rammed into a tractor/trailer.
After the initial collision, the pickup truck reportedly veered into the divider and caught fire.
The incident occurred around 12:55 a.m., on Saturday, December 13.
Unlike the driver of the pickup truck, the driver of the tractor/trailer, a 61-year-old Texas man, suffered only minor injuries, according to a California Highway Patrol statement.
California Highway Patrol is investigating the role alcohol played in the deadly accident, which halted traffic for nearly three hours.
The driver has not yet been identified by authorities.
