CALIFORNIA—On Monday, July 1, 69 different Department of Motor Vehicles offices in California will be opening early at 7 a.m. except for Wednesdays, when they will open at 9 a.m. The earlier start times are to cut down the wait times for customers.

There are 16 local DMV offices that will be opening earlier including locations in Compton, Costa Mesa, Glendale, Hollywood, El Monte and Inglewood.

October 1, 2020, is the Real ID deadline and Americans will be required to have a Real ID to board an airplane. On July 24, the DMV will close statewide due to Real ID training to prepare employees to process the ID.

The DMV recommends customers to go to REALID.dmv.ca.gov to check what documents are required to receive a Real ID.
