HOUSTON, TX—Cody Bellinger, the Dodgers rookie phenom chose the perfect time to bust out of his World Series slump. His two key hits, including the game winning go ahead double in the ninth, breaking the tie surged the Dodgers to a 6-2 victory over the Houston Astros on Saturday, October 28 from Minute Maid Park.
The World Series is now tied at 2-2, the win not only snaps the Astros undefeated (7-0), streak at home these playoffs, it means the season regardless of the victor, will conclude at Dodgers Stadium.
Clayton Kershaw, the pride of Texas will start Game 5 for the Dodgers on Sunday night and Dallas Keuchel, whose beard looks like he is one of the “Duck Dynasty,” will take the mound for the Astros in a rematch of the opener, when Kershaw pitched Los Angeles to a 3-1 win.
The Boys in Blue didn’t panic, although it took awhile for the Dodgers bats to spring to life. The Astros got on the board first-a sixth inning solo home run by George Springer was the only hit Dodgers ace Alex Wood gave up all night.
It was do or die, there was no way the Dodgers could overcome a 3-1 hole. Bellinger started the rally in the seventh with a rocket liner over the shortstop for a double. Logan Forsythe brought him home on a clutch hit with two outs.
The game remained knotted at 1 -1 til the ninth. Corey Seager started it off with a leadoff single. Followed by a Justin Turner walk, Bellinger strolled to the plate.
Thank God Cody has a short memory, last night he struck out all four at bats. However, the 22-year old who smashed 39 homers in the regular season took a fastball and went oppo to the left field wall. It was a perfect piece of hitting.
The Dodgers werent comftorable just yet; Austin Barnes hit a sac fly, than Joc Pederson put the game on ice with his three run homer. The 408 foot dinger landed deep in the right field bleachers.
Kenley Jansen closed the door on the Astros. The 6-2 victory sets up pivotal Game 5 on Sunday night with the series knotted at two games apiece.
Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts deserves ample credit for keeping his players loose, yet focused.
Game 5 is slated for 5:20 p.m. and will air on FOX. Game 6 will be on Halloween- October 31 at 5:00 p.m. The most frightening part is the Dodgers will have to face Justin Verlander!
