SHERMAN OAKS—An infant in Sherman Oaks was killed after being attacked by after being attacked by a dog. The infant was only three months old when three dogs mauled her. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred inside a home located on the 144000 block of Benefit Street on May 5 at 3:25 p.m.

Authorities are unsure of which dog(s) fatally wounded the baby, which resulted in animal control officers taking all three animals into custody. According to the Los Angeles Times, the dogs were all family pets which included a 10 pound Terrier, 89 pound Lab, and a large Rottweiler that weighed about 100 pounds.

According to reports, the attack transpired when the child’s grandmother left the room to retrieve a bottle.

“It is with deep sadness and a heavy hear that we share with you the passing of the baby. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends. The Mayor’s Crisis Respomse Team will be by the family’s side during this difficult time,” said Captain Lillian Carranza via Twitter.

“It has touched all involved family, friends and first responders. Our hearts go out to the family and friends. As I understand, next Sunday would have been the mother’s first Mother’s Day,” said Captain Carranza.
