LOS ANGELES—A female driver has been charged with crashing her SUV into a LAPD motorcycle officer, who was critically injured on April 5. Qaneak Shaney Cobb, 33, of Pacioma was charged by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday, April 8 with one felony count of driving under the influence of a drug causing injury and possession of a controlled substance, cocaine.

According to the District Attorney’s Office, Cobb has prior convictions, and prosecutors are asking for her bail to be set at $150,000. The LAPD officer was struck after stopping behind another car at Lankershim Boulevard  and Saticoy Street at around 5:20 p.m., when the Chevrolet Blazer allegedly driven by Cobb hit him. The impact stuck the officer between two vehicles.

The suspect who has a prior conviction for grand theft and drug possession could face up to 10 years in state prison if convicted.
