HOLLYWOOD—The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that a woman from Brazil already facing domestic violence-related charges was charged in an attack that occurred last month at a Hollywood bar.

Eduarda DeCastro, 26, a Brazilian national, was charged on Thursday, October 4 in an amended complaint with one felony count each of assault with a deadly weapon, mayhem, battery with serious bodily injury and assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury in case BA467378. New charges include allegations of personally inflicting great bodily injury.

DeCastro was charged on April 19 with one felony count each of mayhem, assault with a deadly weapon and injuring a spouse. Those charges include an allegation of personally inflicting great bodily injury under circumstances involving domestic violence and using a deadly and dangerous weapon, a glass.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to all of the charges and bail was set at $355,000. A preliminary hearing setting is scheduled for November 1 in Department 32 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center.

According to a press release from the LADA’s Office, on March 31, DeCastro allegedly got into an altercation with her spouse at their Los Angeles home and threw a glass at him, hitting him in the head, prosecutors noted. On September 2, DeCastro is accused of throwing a glass bottle at a woman’s face, then attacking another woman whose head hit the ground during a altercation at a bar in the 1600 block of North Cahuenga Boulevard.

DeCastro faces a possible maximum sentence of 17 years in state prison if convicted as charged. The case is still under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
