WOODLAND HILLS—An elderly person was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing Ventura Boulevard in Woodland Hills on Tuesday, April 7. The victim was visiting from Canada.

The accident occurred at approximately 9:50 p.m. on the 22400 block of Ventura.

Peter Fairleigh, 84, and a group of his relatives were crossing the street when he was struck by a 1997 Nissan Altima. The driver of the vehicle has been revealed to be Joel Maurice Wisbon, 51, of Woodland Hills.

Wisbon was traveling west in the lane closest to the curb when his car struck Fairleigh.

Fairleigh was rushed to the hospital, where he passed away from his injuries.

According to reports, Wisbon did not flee the scene and there was no evidence whether or not he was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He was later released after the authorities completed their investigation.
