LOS FELIZ—A house fire on the 3900 block of West Sunset Drive led authorities to discover marijuana plants on the property. The incident took place on April 24 at around 6 p.m. and resulted in no injuries.

It is unclear whether plants were grown inside the three-story home, but footage of the house showed dozens of mature marijuana plants located in the empty pool outside.

The fire’s source was traced to canisters of butane — a substance often used to increase the potency of marijuana — which most likely caught fire from a spark during use.

Witnesses saw the residents of the burning home flee while the garage and two vehicles were destroyed. The fire remains an open investigation within the Los Angeles Police Department’s Narcotics Division as well as the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Arson Division.
