STUDIO CITY—Well friends”¦ I always want to share something nifty with you, so here it goes.

I warn you, it’s a bit of an effort to find Firefly at 11720 Ventura Blvd.,Studio City, Calif. 91604. It is located on the south side of Ventura, where Colfax dead ends onto the restaurant. It is covered with ivy and there is absolutely no signage.

It also took me several phone calls to try and make reservations. However, it was worth it because I discovered a little gem.

On a very hot summer night, it was a great pleasure to walk into a very cool (even though hot red in color) bar.  Drinks were prepared exactly the way we ordered, and the variety of Martinis and specialty drinks make it fun to go sip and watch people.

If you choose, you can have small plate-suppers served on the coffee tables in front of the comfortable lounges.

However, I recommend dining in the semi-open garden. The ambiance is quite wonderful, although the night we were there, fans were desperately needed.

The food selections prepared by chef Vahe Ivynian are different and exciting.

Firefly is the kind of place where you can make an entire 10-course dinner out of the small plates, or have the usual three courses with extraordinary appetizers, entrées and desserts at very fair prices.

I must recommend their Heirloom Beet Salad, which is done with shaved beet chips, fennel and goat cheese. The Smoked Trout Salad was brilliant, but the biggest and most delicious surprises are the Fried Cicchetti Olives with aioli”¦ a must!

I suggest you go and try it all in this unique attitude and unique menu restaurant, owned by Jeffrey Best and Ken Jones.
