HOLLYWOOD—Well it looks like the final installment in “The Hobbit” franchise, “Battle of the Five Armies” is impossible to dethrone at the box-office. The film took the #1 spot for a third consecutive week with more than $21.9 million in receipts. To date the movie has already crossed the $200 million mark at the domestic box-office and could top out at over $300 million if it continues to impress moviegoers.

It was a hard fought battle for the #2 spot as both “Unbroken” and “Into the Woods” kept moviegoers entertained. Grabbing the #2 spot was “Into the Woods” with just over $19 million, while “Unbroken” managed to earn $18.4 million. “Into the Woods” is only a few million from crossing the $100 million mark. Both films should surpass that in the coming week.

The horror sequel “The Woman in Black 2” debuted to an impressive $15.1 million, a strong debut for a horror film that many expected to be a box-office bust. Rounding out the top five was the sequel “Night at the Museum: The Secret of the Tomb” with an additional $14.5 million to its tally.

This weekend sees the nationwide release of two Oscar heavy contenders in “Selma” and “American Sniper.”
