SANTA MONICA—Al Gore, former Vice President of the United States of America and climate change activist will be visiting Santa Monica on Saturday, January 6.

Gore will be visiting the city to promote his new film, “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power.” The film will be showing at the Aero Theater, right in the heart of downtown Santa Monica. Gore will take part in a Q&A after the movie, answering the audience’s questions about the movie, climate change in general and the former VP’s life.

Tickets to the event, which were available on the website Eventbrite, sold out within minutes of the sale opening. Anyone that did not get one of the 125 tickets before they sold out can watch a livestream of the Q&A on Santa Monica’s Facebook page. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m., January 6.

The movie, along with the Q&A, was organized by Santa Monica’s Office of Sustainability and the Environment as part of a public education campaign. The office is gearing up for the “Climate Fest” happening in May of this year and has screened the movie in part to raise awareness of the event. According to the city’s official site, the Fest will be “a community effort to bring individuals, non-profits, businesses and the City of Santa Monica together into one free thinking and learning space for a day, with activities for all ages.”

Santa Monica partnered with the non-profit organization Sustainable Works to put on three additional films over the course of the year. These will be released to further raise awareness for both the event and climate change at large.
