SHERMAN OAKS—Free Wellness Classes For Senior Citizens in Los Angeles County started enrollment at the beginning of October. The Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks offers free and low-cost classes.

Some of the classes offered include: Zumba Gold (participants can stand or sit during class), Polynesian dance, and yoga. Classes are held on weekdays in the mornings at Branford Recreation Center, 13306 Branford Street in Arleta, CA. Classes are part of an eight-week program.

Seniors have the option of joining a Tuesday dance club for a $5 annual membership plus a $4 ticket per event at Branford RC. The dance class runs from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Price of admission includes line dancing lessons, lunch, and coffee.

Those who prefer art classes can take painting lessons in the mornings at Hoover Recreation Center, located at 1010 West. 25th Street.

Elysian Valley Recreation Center at 1800 Ripple St. offers a senior club for the annual cost of $8 to be part of activities such as bingo, potluck parties, and trips that are scheduled throughout the year.

Twenty-nine senior citizen centers belong to the LA Department of Recreation and Parks and some provide special nutrition dining sites including the Sherman Oaks-East Valley Adult Center.
