WEST HOLLYWOOD—The city of West Hollywood will kick-off its 2018/2019 Winter Sounds Free Indoor Concert Series, on the second Saturday of the month at 5 p.m. starting December 2018 through February 2019 at the West Hollywood Council Chambers at the West Hollywood Library.

According to the city of West Hollywood, the series will kick-off on Saturday, December 8, with the California String Quartet, which was formed in 2002 by members of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra to express and explore the diversity and beauty of the more intimate chamber music repertoire. The Quartet has guest performers at some of the most prestigious chamber music series such as LACMA Live, Chamber Music at Greystone, the Norton Simon Museum, The Music Guild, and the South Bay Chamber Music Society. The concert will honor and celebrate the memory of violinist and concertmaster Katia Popov. RSVP is requested at https://wintersounds-dec2018.eventbrite.com.

The following concert in the series will feature multi-instrumentalist and composer Danny Janklow on Saturday, January 12, 2019. Janklow’s live performances are often described as “emotionally charged” and “vibrant celebrations.” He had the pleasure of sharing the stage and recording with Stevie Wonder, Kendrick Lamar, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, George Benson, Jose James, Wynton & Branford Marsalis, Benny Golson, Eric Reed, John Beasley, Ben Williams, Jason Moran, Savion Glover. RSVP is requested at https://wintersounds-jan2019.eventbrite.com.

Winter Sounds closes on Saturday, February 9, 2019 with Zetz Klezmer Ensemble whose show includes music, stories, history, educational demos, and jokes. Their original and traditional music is rooted in klezmer traditions of European Jews, but fuses sounds from across the globe. The range of music includes melodies of the synagogue, Yiddish vaudeville songs, Russian and Ukrainian dances and a klezmerized Irish jig.
